About Me

Hello, my name is Anthony Carmichael, President of Creations Of Destiny, a non-profit organization based in the rural part of Horry County. I have been working with kids for the last 15 years in the school system as a bus driver in the Loris area. Loris has been my home for my entire life, and I graduated from Loris High School in 2001. During my time there, I was actively involved in sports, playing football, basketball, and track. Sports played a significant role in my life, helping me stay out of trouble and allowing me to make new friends over the years.

I grew up in a single-parent household, with my mom raising me as the youngest of eight kids. Due to a lack of transportation, I didn’t have the opportunity to visit the beach until I got my first job. It was at the age of 8 when I first fell in love with basketball, inspired by watching my older brother play. I aspired to be as good as him and other athletes. Basketball became my outlet, keeping me in good shape and away from trouble. I spent my time at school and recess playing basketball, honing my skills.

A few years ago, I initiated my own girls’ basketball team in the Loris area. At that time, there was a need for such a program because they lacked the necessary resources to succeed. Many of the players came from single-parent households, just like I did, and they showed great potential, despite their skills not being at their best. I recognized their potential and decided to help them grow. I invested a significant amount of time and energy into the program because I wanted them to succeed at the next level and earn college scholarships. I believe in their potential, and most of them face similar challenges that I did growing up.

In addition to the basketball program, my non-profit organization provides after-school mentoring for these kids to address various life issues. We bring in speakers to talk to them about life and offer guidance.

#Trust the process.
